Timing is perhaps the most crucial element of my very best photos.
I mean, what’s the chance that a fine raven like this one would pose in a fine wind-torn tree for long enough for me to grab a photo?
Especially since this was at a small roadside stop, where we paused to admire the fine fjord. We were there for perhaps five minutes, and then were on the road again.
Although honestly, the probability of me getting a photo this fine is actually pretty good. After all, while this time it was a raven in a tree, it could have been a flower in the perfect light or a passing sheep or even just the perfect angle to view the fjord. There were tons of possible perfect photos that I just didn’t spot.
Getting this particular raven at this particular moment on this particular tree, though, that took a stroke of luck.
